Tier 1 Investor route under review
On the 26th March 2018 Theresa May has confirmed that individuals in possession of the Investor visa will be subject to a review by the Home Office. This statement may have an immediate effect on all wealthy foreign nationals that hold a UK Visa via the Tier 1 Investor route.
Theresa May said the government is conducting a review of visas issued to wealthy foreign nationals as part of the UK’s response to Russia’s suspected involvement in the nerve agent attack in Salisbury. Answering questions about the government’s stance on Russia, Ms May told the Commons Liaison Committee that Britain's interior minister was reviewing investor visas. However, she insisted the checks on possible loopholes were not specifically focused on Russia.
The above mentioned reviews will most likely be similar to the investigations envisaged by the recent Unexplained Wealth Order. The main focus would ultimately be on the source of wealth of the relevant applicant.
